Dear former pupils of Ratcliffe College,
Re: Careers Convention – Wednesday 5th October 2016
I am writing to ask for your assistance at our next biennial Careers Convention which will be held in school between 7.00 and 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday 5th October 2016. All students in Years 9 and above are invited, along with parents. Students and parents from several local schools and colleges will also be invited.
The programme for the evening is as follows:
From 6.00 p.m - Career / Higher Education representatives and speakers arrive. (Reception & light buffet in the Sixth Form Centre.)
7.00 – 8.30 p.m - Meetings between students / parents and representatives in the Sports Hall. (Light refreshments available.)
The aim of the convention is to provide information for students about career areas in which they have some interest. We plan to have representatives from a wide range of career areas, and from several universities. Students and parents can then visit according to interest, enabling information about different career areas to be gained by informal discussion.
We already have several ‘contacts’ among local employers and Higher Education institutions, and will be inviting representatives from these to contribute to the event. However, we hope that the majority of career areas might be represented by ex-students of the school and parents of those currently at Ratcliffe. Reflecting the eventual destinations of Ratcliffian students over many years, we would like to include in the programme ‘traditional’ and ‘high profile’ professions, but also – and equally important – less well-known or popular trades, professions and occupations.
Are you able to help? – If you would be willing to come and talk about your area of work, then please e-mail your name and occupation to my secretary, Helen Grant, at email@example.com. Please do this as soon as you are able, and by Monday 26th September at the latest.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at the College (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any queries about the event. Thank you, in anticipation, for any assistance you can provide.
