In January, the Ratcliffian Association hosted an event to bring together the current Sixth Form students and Old Ratcliffians. A fantastic night was enjoyed by all; it gave the Upper Sixth an opportunity to network with Old Ratcliffians as well as giving OR’s chance to reminisce about old times at Bar Night. The night began with a 5-a-side football match in the Sports Hall with a score which saw the School win by a few goals. There was a great turn out for the football, with over ten ORs and twenty students. Alex Slack (03), the Association Manager, was ‘taking one for the team’ as she was the only girl that played - so next year we hope more girls will put on their trainers and join in … but not us though, we will watching from the bar window with a wine in hand!

After the football, Mr Sharpe (Head of Sixth Form) treated us to one of his infamous quizzes, which went down a storm. The Old Rats took victory in the quiz this time! The evening was perfectly finished off with a visit by Heidi the Van who supplied everyone with a delicious feast of gourmet burgers from a vintage Citroen H-Van. There was a great turn out with around twenty-five ORs attending and fifty Year 13’s.

Thank you to everyone who was involved with organising the event, as it gave many of us a good excuse to visit again after several years. Despite a lot of changes around school – new buildings, staff and students – the ethos and atmosphere we all remember has remained the same.
